Fire Protection (15th March 2010)
- KA thanked all those who assisted with the Fire over the week-end.
- KA discussed the option of an Independent Fire Station with Dewald Bernard (Fire Chief for KM) who said he would make recommendations to KM for a fire station in SFB. He would recommend 1 or 2 retained officers and the balance to be made up from volunteers. KA’s name would be put forward to head up the Station.
- BR informed that a meeting was scheduled for next week with all interested parties, to discuss this issue.
- JO sent a letter of recommendation to KM suggesting that they compel ratepayers to clear their plots of alien vegetation. It was also recommended that a decision be taken regarding the tip and the proper management thereof.
- TM noted that dense bush also posed a Crime Threat.
- KA said many individuals had offered funding towards a Fire Station.
- KA to find out about a Section 21 Company or alternatively use the Residents’ Association Bank Account and ring fence amounts for Fire Protection. The decision would depend on the conditions imposed by KM.
- JO advised that a letter should be sent to KM regarding the undertaking of an Independent Station in SFB in order to get a firm commitment in writing.
