Nigel Aitken
The heavy rains this season have taken their toll on our infrastructure and the roads in particular have suffered. Some local businessmen and members of the community realised action needs to be taken to get the roads into reasonable order before the December holiday season. It is no secret that the municipality has no reserve financial resources and are struggling to fulfil normal maintenance requirements.

Why should we have ratepayer's associations at all?
"We have got councillors elected from political parties, but they are powerless as they have certain functions in municipal council meetings. They are not allowed to interfere in the daily workings of the municipality; they cannot issue instructions to municipal workers. All they can do is raise concerns in council meetings where they can be out voted. The residents have the real power as they control their monies…………"

Nuclear and Wind Farms
Hilton Thorpe reports that at the public meeting on the Second Draft Environmental Report held at the Links on 30 May very little of substance has changed from the first report. Crime and Security
Crime in St Francis Bay is an on-going concern and, following recent incidents, we republish our call to the SFB community to maintain vigilance and report anything untoward. The fact that perpetrators are targeting occupied houses makes such vigilance vitally necessary. Deterring crime in St Francis Bay has become a shared concern in which all should play a part. Recently, a general meeting was held by the CPF

Dear Friends across South Africa,
Right now a Parliamentary Committee is steamrolling through an unconstitutional secrecy bill that would undermine the very pillars of democracy -- freedom of expression, free media and accountable government. But growing public pressure is pushing back and MPs are hesitating. Let's build a nationwide petition of opposition and stop the bill. Sign now!

NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH – A CALL ON THE COMMUNITY OF ST FRANCIS BAY - May 2011
A recent Sector Police Forum meeting revealed once again that only a handful of residents get involved in assisting the Neighbourhood Watch and SAPS to deter crime in the community.
