The new Rotary Club of Jeffreys Bay, St Francis Bay Satellite Club inducted nine new Rotarians on July 21 by Rotary District Governor of District 9320 Kevin Dersley and Jeffreys Bay Rotary Club President Salomien de Klerk.

During his short address on where the club has come from, Rotary Past District Governor credited with driving the club into being, Ted Pope explained that the concept of satellite clubs is very new to Rotary International and the Jeffreys Bay Club's application to host a satellite club was probably one of the first to be accepted worldwide.

Tracy de Jager has been voted by the Satellite Club members as their first chairperson. De Jager and the club will be guided during their infancy by club mentor Ann Knight, a St Francis Bay resident and Rotarian of longstanding who was credited with being the inspiration behind bringing Rotary to St Francis Bay. Knight received a special vote of thanks for her tireless efforts in this regard.

Rotarians visiting St Francis are welcome to attend the Satellite club's meetings on each Thursday evening at 18h30, at the St Francis Tourism offices, Tenant Centre on St Francis Drive. Anyone interested in joining this active and friendly group can contact club chairman Tracey de Jager on 0833886296 or go to their Facebook page stfrancisrotary@groups.facebook.com
